One of my favorite movies is also that same Les Misérables movie- that movie is where my journey with the musical began, which led to a Les Mis obsession and a passion of musicals. I had to watch the movie twice before I could decide if I loved Les Mis or not. Just to let to you. To this day, seen that movie who knows how many times and still end up crying.
Of other movies of yours: love Sound of Music and the remake of Beauty and the Beast: after all I am a musical theatre fanatic. Musical theatre is one of the biggest themes on my blog.
I cry every time as well. That last scene with Eponine and Fantine…. and the one during the battle…. Whether at a live show or the movie. Lol. Have you ever read the book? I keep promising myself that I will.
Yes, read the book. I used the musical. I read the book the same summer I saw the musical the same summer I saw the musical in London.
To be honest: I saw the stage show 5 times. I am still not sick and tired of Les Mis- and some people don’t get it. I love Les Mis for so many reasons. It may be heartbreaking and tragic, but it is beautiful story filled with hope, love, compassion, forgiveness, sacrifice, humanity, and redemption- so has a wonderful spirituality. Wonderful characters who are so interconnected that their lives are so interconnected that they directly and indirectly impact each others lives. Songs that are so brilliant that are so epic, powerful, passionate and highly emotional.
Oh my gosh…. you are making me want to go see it again. Live on stage. I’ll have to settle for the movie. Maybe a day this week I’ll get my tissues and settle in to watch again.
You are so right though about how powerful a story it is!
Even I can’t describe how powerful the musical is. Not many musicals can reach how powerful Les Mis is. That is the rarity of Les Mis. Les Mis disproved many things I thought a musical once was- that is part of why Les Mis is so meaningful to me.

Last time I saw the stage show, I got goosebumps and was an emotional wreck. The storyline is so complex that if you take one little aspect out, the story fall apart. It just moves me in a way that no other musical can
